Satyricon have always been a very controversal black metal band; writing many classic extreme metal hymns ( I think anyone who´s into black metal at least once has heard "mother north" ... ). But after some critical changes concerning the bands lineup and muscial style many of the bands supporters have turned away from the Norwegians.
Today, critics expect Satyricon's way of interpreting their music to be the future of the whole genre of black metal. In 2008 Satyricon refines that raw, less melodic even puristic sound they´ve turned to with their 2002 effort "volcano".
This probably makes "The Age Of Nero" a "love-or-hate" record. Decide for yourself!

The album packs a bonus cd with live material.

Behemoth-At_The_Arena_Ov_Aion_Live_Apostasy-Promo-2008-GRAVEWISH

First Live album from Behemoth. Some good tracks on it and the quality is pretty decent. I wished they would have played more from 'The Apostasy' and not only 5 tracks, as this release is even tagged (Live_Apostasy) , but that's okay as the rest of the tracks are awesome, too.
Hopefully, the three live tracks on Behemoth's upcoming EP Ezkaton aren't the same as on this source.

Four timeless classics from "Death" had been re-released in remastered form. The sticker on the cover tells us that this is a "die-hard fan release", no idea what that means, I don't think you have to be a die-hard Death fan just to own these. As the Masterpieces they are, they belong into everyone's cd-rack.

The_Haunted-Versus-Promo-2008-BERC

A new record by swedish Melodic Death / Thrash Metal band "The Haunted" (-the successors of the legendary At The Gates-) has been released by Berc yesterday. Versus does not include as many progressive song structures as their last effort The Dead Eye. Although many people might think that this might be some kind of a regression, at least imo, this straightforward kind of sound suits the band perfectly. It reminds me of their great early works like rEVOLVEr or One Kill Wonder.
Go and support these guys, if you like their sound!
