Burst-Lazarus_Bird-2008-FNT

The swedish Progressive-Metal band Burst have managed to impress me a great deal with their newest effort "Lazarus Bird". In tradition of "modern" progressive Bands like Isis, Becoming The Archetype or The Ocean these Swedes have composed a truly epic album that combines so many different styles - making it very difficult to classify their music... -
We´ve got some Modern Metal,Post Hardcore, Death Metal,Doom, Progressive Metal, even some Free Jazz passages.
One might think: "oh hell no, not another over-ambitious group that´s trying to grab the listeners attention by combining weird musical genres...."
It turns out to be very different with these guys. Allthough, the extra-long songs, contain many breaks and eccentric passages, the album never loses coherence. Lazarus Bird is complex aswell as groovy and people who enjoy the bands I´ve mentioned above will surely love this record too.
So go and buy this album when it´s out!

Abysmal Dawn-Programmed To Consume-2008-FNT

"Richard G.: Where a lot of up and coming bands in the death metal scene are too obviously inspired by either CC or MA, the two biggest bands in (US) death metal, this is not at all the case with Abysmal Dawn, newest addition to the scene. This in itself is already quite a neat feat and deserves praise. This opinion was obviously shared by Relapse, as they decided to sign the band pretty quickly after their 2006 Crash-debut 'From Ashes'.
On 'Programmed To Consume' Abysmal Dawn most certainly know how to gain and retain the listeners attention. The ten compositions are kept interesting via influences from thrash as well as black metal, but it is the attention the band paid to creating the
right dark atmosphere (a quality that Immolation also possesses) which lifts the band high above their up and coming peers. Add to that the high technical level of Charles Elliott's guitar playing plus his need to showcase it in virtually every song in a kick-ass solo and you should have reason enough to be checking these guys out! Coldworker_-_Rotting_Paradise-Advance-2008-CMG

Recently, -cmg has released an advanced version of the new Coldworker record called Rotting Paradise. Coldworker consists of members of various swedish extreme metal bands, e.g. Nasum, Phobos or Relentless. Their music stands for groovy death metal mixed with grindcore elements.
The CD was produced by scandinavian Death Metal mastermind Dan Swanö at the Unisound Studios.

If you dig bands like Nasum or The Red Chord you will love this album!

VA_-_Forging_the_Future_(Relapse_Records)-2008-CMG

Nice Sampler brought to us by CMG (good to have these guys back, missed their metal rels the
last weeks), it's a lable sampler from relapse. Bands like Disfear, Kingdom of Sorrow, Dillinger
Escape Plan, Baroness, Genghis Tron, Pig Destroyer, Unearthly Trance, High on Fire, Coliseum,
Origin, Cephalic Carnage, Alchemist and Jucifer. No exclusive tracks as far as I can see, so just
grab this if you are not common with one of those bands.

Swedens Death-Metal legends 'Grave' are back with their 8th
full-length studio album 'Dominion VIII', released through Relapse.

No Voice-Over's or anything else annoying on this promo, seems
like a nice strike from GRW.

Nasum--Doombringer-Digipak CDEP-2008-WUS

New EP by Nasum out now.

Seems to be a live-album. It's released through Relapse.

From wiki:

"Nasum was a political Swedish band that played a mixture of grindcore and death/grind music."

Quality of the rip is good as expected. Get it.
